Overview
OmniUnit is a free, browser-based unit and measurement converter. This Privacy Policy explains what information is (and is not) collected when you use the service, how any data is handled, and the choices and rights you have. We have designed the tool to be private by default.
Client-side processing — your inputs never leave your device
All unit and measurement calculations are executed 100% locally inside your browser. The numbers you type, the units you select, and the results you see are processed entirely on your own device. No calculation data or numerical inputs are ever sent to, processed by, or stored on our servers. We operate no database of user conversions and have no ability to view what you convert.
Cookies and local identifiers
To operate the site, remember preferences (such as your chosen language), and understand aggregate usage, we and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, or similar local identifiers. These are small pieces of data stored by your browser. You can block or delete them through your browser settings at any time; the converter will continue to function without them.
Analytics
We may use privacy-conscious analytics services (for example, Google Analytics) to collect aggregated, non-identifying information such as page views, approximate region, device type, and referring source. This helps us understand which conversions are most useful and improve the product. Analytics data is statistical and is not used to personally identify you.
Advertising
We may display advertising in the future through networks such as Google AdSense. Where ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn about and control personalized advertising through your Google Ad Settings and through industry opt-out tools.
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because we do not collect or store your conversion inputs or personal account data, there is generally no personal profile for us to access, correct, or delete. Where applicable data-protection laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grant you rights — including access, deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — you may exercise them by contacting us. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention
Any preferences stored locally remain in your browser until you clear them. Aggregated analytics data is retained only for as long as needed to understand usage trends, in accordance with the providers' standard retention settings.
Children's privacy
The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
